The Finnish Osprey Foundation is a non-profit association whose power comes from voluntary work. The Foundation works together with the Finnish Museum of Natural History (Luomus), which is the authority maintaining the national monitoring of birds of prey. BirdLife Finland, WWF Finland, and the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation are partners of the Foundation.
The Osprey Centre in Pohtiolampi in Kangasala has 30,000–40,000 annual visitors and dozens of photographers have taken stunning pictures of fishing ospreys and other piscivore birds from the hides in the area. The centre is also regularly visited by school classes and teachers.
The Osprey Foundation has the best birds of prey experts in the country. The Foundation gives, upon request, statements for the evaluation of different kinds of projects and conservation-related questions.
