Pohtiolampi Osprey Center is closed for wintertime

New Webcam LIVE at the Osprey fish-pool

The Osprey Foundation has installed a new webcam to broadcast Live Video Stream and record the images of Osprey dives at the osprey fish pool. For more information, see the Webcam subpage.

Winning photo of Windland Smith Rice International 2010 taken at Pohtiolampi

The annual Windland Smith Rice International is one of the most highly-respected nature photography competitions in the North America and in the world. The Grand Prize Winner of the Competition in 2010 is Peter Cairns of Kingussie, Scotland, UK. His winning photo "Osprey Landing with Catch" was taken at Pohtiolampi Osprey Center, Kangasala, Finland !

Peter Cairns has worked as a full-time freelance photographer since 2000. His images have received awards in a number of international competitions including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the GDT European Photographer of the Year. The Osprey Tower will be opened in April 2011

The season for osprey watching at Pohtiolampi Osprey Center begins on 9^th April 2011, when the public Osprey Tower will be opened.

The tower is available for daily use to late September.

Events in 2011

• The Osprey Foundation will continue the artificial nest project in Häme and Pirkanmaa Regions and participates artifical nest project in Kainuu Region
  
  
• BirdLife's "Battle of the Towers" and Nest Box Fair at Pohtiolampi Osprey Center on ^7th May 2011
  
  
• World Environment Day at Pohtiolampi on 5^th June 2011 at noon
  
  
• The midsummer eve at Pohtiolampi on 25^th June 2011 from 11 am - to midnight
  
  
• Osprey nest webcam will be set up in UPM’s forest area in Spring 2011. Webcam will be setup also at the Pohtiolampi Osprey pool
