The video above is from photographer Garry Ridsdale (ARPS). He had been at Pohtiolampi for one week in September 2011 photographing ospreys, his favorite birds.

We downloaded almost all Live- broadcasting videos at Pohtiolampi from the Bambuser's server. The video (avi-) on September 6, at noon displays 6 dives in less than 2 minutes! Video.

Pohtiolampi Webcam

Last summer (from June 18 to September 30) a webcam was put up on the wall of one of the bird hides. The webcam was programmed to take a snapshot in every three seconds. In autumn 2010 we studied all images and gathered statistics based on the set of images. See "Statistics of osprey dives in summer 2010"

Osprey dives in 2011

On April 1 2011, we installed two webcams on the wall of the bird hide. Camera (1) took still -photos in every 3-4 seconds from dawn till dusk. Camera (2) was for LIVE-broadcasting purposes. We broadcasted Live Video Stream, which was transferred via a 3G network and Bambuser service to this website.

Both cameras were active from April 1 to September 30. All images and videos were studied and the dives were registered. This way, we produced an accurate statistics from the first dive (Apr 6) to the last one (Sep 24) in 2011. See Statistics of osprey dives in summer 2011.
